The range of services that we can offer to you and your pet are as follows:

Surgery: We have the capacity to perform not only routine operations such as speying and 'lump' removals, but also have the surgical equipment and expertise to perform a wide range of soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures. We also have facilities for aftercare of surgical cases where necessary. We also have Cryosurgery facilities  for appropriate cases.

Medicine: We have access to a wide range of standard and state of the art drugs and medication, which we dispense or use for treatment at the surgery.

Dentistry We have a modern dental workstation with high speed drills, scaler and polisher powered by compressed air. We sell preventative dentistry items - toothpaste and chews at the reception.

Diagnostic Equipment

Radiography We have a modern X-Ray machine for 'still' pictures and a flouroscopy unit for 'moving' pictures. We can also carry out 'contrast'studies using radioopaque substances - Barium and Iodine - for more indepth investigations. We also have an ultrasound scanner used as a complementry diagnostic aid with Radiography.

Cardiology In addition to X-Ray and Ultrasound diagnosis, we have an Electrocardiogram and Blood Pressure Monitor to assist in diagnosis of heart conditions where necessary.

Endoscopy We have rigid and flexible fibreoptic endoscopes and attachments for retrieving and biopsy sampling. These are used in treatment of airway or alimentry tract disorders.

Laboratory We have our own in-house laboratory with a microscope, centrifuge, blood analysis machine, refractometer, and various individual antibody test kits. For more complex tests such as hormonal tests and histology reports on tissues (such as tumours) we use an outside laboratory.

Anaesthesia We use both general and local anaesthesia. We have gas piped around the surgery to different workstations and use a variety of intravenous and inhalation anaesthetics. We have the latest anaesthetic machines using Isoflourine which works and wears off very quickly and is regarded as a safe form of anaesthesia.

Home Visits It is possible to arrange a visit if it is impossible to bring the animal into the surgery for any reason. An extra charge is made for this, as it is out of hour calls.

Out of Hours In case of emergency please telephone 0121 422 7268

Pet Supplies These is a Pet Sales counter at reception, selling both dog and cat food, special prescription diets, and a range of pet accessories. We also sell a comprehensive range of anti-parasite preparations, e.g wormers and flea products.

Veterinary Nursing Appointments In addition to the Veterinary surgeons consultations, we offer nursing appointments where advice can be given regarding general pet healthcare topics, such as diets, flea control, worming, etc. This would normally be free of charge unless a veterinary surgeon intervention is required. We can also provide printed information on a wide range of topics.

Death of an animal We use a company called TimeRight for animal cremations. If an alternative service is required we are happy to comply with the owners wishes. TimeRight offers a private cremation service with the return of the ashes in a casket if requested. We can supply contact with bereavement services, should this be required.

Records All records of treatment and payment are computerised on a dedicated veterinary software system. This is regularly updated and improved by Verifac Veterinary Information Systems.

We anticipate being part of the new Southside emergency out of hours clinic, which covers South Birmingham, when it becomes operational in the next few months.
